Point Reyes Anniversary Weekend!

It's hard to believe that it has been four full years since Mae and I got hitched!  To commemorate the occasion this year, Mae and I spent the weekend in Olema, CA, which is part of the Point Reyes National Seashore and is the home of the epicenter of the "Great Earthquake" of 1906.  Here are some photos from our trip!

We crossed the Golden Gate just as the "marine layer" of fog was rolling into the Bay.

We couldn't see more than a few yards off the bridge as we crossed!

Taking in the fog at the vista on the northern side of the bridge

Chilly!

We drove up to the Marin Headlands to get a better view.

The temperature dropped from 90 in Palo Alto to 51 on the Marin Headlands!

Point Reyes Seashore Lodge - our room has the big window and wisteria!

This field behind our inn reminded us a lot of Virginia

On Saturday morning, we drove out to the Point Reyes Lighthouse.

The area is comprised mostly of beautiful, rolling hills and dairy farms.

Our car, the blue CR-V, is in the distance (near the center)

308 stairs down the cliffs to get to the lighthouse!

Sounds great!

The strip of water in this image is right on top of the San Andreas Fault!

We drove out of the fog and found this amazing view down the coast.

Point Reyes is also home to a magical elk sanctuary (complete with mist).

Enjoying the sun and the scenery!

The path down to McClure Beach.  Our stomachs started complaining a bit too much before we reached the bottom, so we left early to get fish and chips.

Fish and chips!

We settled in early for the night and enjoyed some wine, our fireplace, and a few good books.

The view from our suite.

Our suite was named after Sir Francis Drake, who was the first explorer to sail around the world.

Totally relaxed.

As the sun went down, we watched the fog roll in over the mountains.

On Sunday, we hiked to the top of Mount Wittenberg and back down - about 5 miles total!

Nice view of the coast on the drive home!
