San Diego for Labor Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christopher's sister has been living in San Diego for almost as long as we've been in the Bay Area, and we were finally able to visit her over Labor Day weekend.  We had a great time tooling around the Gaslamp, La Jolla, Old Town, Balboa Park, Imperial Beach, and Coronado. Here are a bunch of pictures from our visit!

Hanging out along the coast in La Jolla

Trying (too hard) to blend in

We had lunch at a great little cafe by the sea on Saturday.

After spending the morning in La Jolla, we headed over to Old Town

Hope bought and shared a few delicious tortillas

Don't mess with my mint chip  (blending in part 2).

Candy shop!  The dazed look on Mae's face is because she's in heaven.

Candy sticks - crucial provisions to survive in gold mining country.

We were really taken with this beautiful store design.

San Diego

This is a photo of us standing behind two cutouts.  It's not really our bodies.

Breakfast in Imperial Beach.

Outside the Museum of Man in Balboa Park.  Hope is currently the Director of Development,
so we were able to get a super special tour!

Hope's office!

Hope says "THIS BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!!!" at least once every day.

We were able to take a trip up to the top of the tower.  Each successive floor had curious surprises.  Used casts are
lying in the foreground.

We traversed about 3 levels of spiral staircases that looked like this to get the top of
the tower.

Looking out one of the balconies.

Balboa Park

We took the descent very slowly.  Hope was spotting us.

In the botanical garden

Sunday night, we went out to dinner with Hope's boyfriend Edwin at his brother's restaurant JWok.  It was amazing.
Before heading out, we goofed around outside Edwin's apartment.

JWok!!!!

The view from JWok!

We picked up a bunch of different root beer varieties (and an apple beer) in Old Town and had a tasting test Sunday night.

Evaluating the notes of root.
Kutztown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Not sure why we were so excited about this...

The final scores...

  1. Your pictures are amazing!! I LOVE the diagonal one of the dome. I might need to bug you for permission to use those in publicity for the museum! :)
