Costanoa!

At the end of my spring break, Mae and I spent a quick weekend getaway by the sea!  We stayed at a place called Costanoa, which is nestled directly between the shore and the dramatic mountains that line highway 1. I forgot our nice camera at home, so we put the iPhone (and the hipstamatic app!) to good use.

Shortly after arriving on Saturday, we brushed the rain off our adirondack chairs and enjoyed a snack by our little cabin.

The rain cleared off and we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny afternoon along the coast!

Yeah, she's my wife :)

I love these rocks, worn down by the sea.

We sat against the rocks and watched the waves roll in for awhile.

Our footprints. The beach was deserted!

Beautiful trails led along the beach and up higher on the rocks.  This photo was taken from "Franklin Point"

A view inland.  You can see the big cloud banks from the storm that passed through earlier in the day!

After a day of hiking around and an incredibly delicious, filling meal, we put our feet up by a wood-burning fireplace near our tent/cabin.

We woke up bright and early the next morning to get breakfast and do some more hiking!

This is the inside of our tent - a queen-size bed and two electric lights.

The C stands for "Cypress," not "cell"

Our tent/cabin is on the right.  Those are our designated adirondack chairs to the left!

Getting ready to do some more hiking!

We loved the cypress trees, particularly the way their limbs reach upward in praise.

This is the trail that led down to the beach.

Looking back inland along the trail.

The entrance to the beach.

Since it had been storming the day before, the waves were wild!  These photos don't quite do them justice.

Note the sea rolling in on the upper right.

Swells in the distance.

A zoomed-in shot of the swells.  They were HUGE!

Once we were done on the beach, we hiked up to a ridge way above our resort.  We rested at the top for a bit.

You could see the full coastline from the top!

Taking it in!

Enjoying the view!

Although it was only a day long, we had an amazing trip!
