Day 2: Wheaton, Il to Des Moines IA

We planned this day to be a little shorter so that we would have time to visit with our friends in the morning.  Five hours in the car seemed so zippy after the 12 hours we spent in the car the day before!  We saw a lot of corn, some giant windmills, and the Mississippi River! 

Apparently the people of Iowa are quite friendly!

 Serious flooding in Des Moines.   The stretch of I80 where this picture was taken is going to be closed by the end of today.  Good thing we left a day early!
